Thailand is fundamentally an agricultural society and a food producing country for both domestic consumption and for export. Pest prevention and eradication is a critical issue as there are over a hundred species of insects in Thailand. Failure in pest control can drastically damage volume and quality of products. That is why the agricultural sector is still relying heavily on pesticides. Excessive and improper use of pesticide is common, and it results in countless products found with higher residue levels than the safety standard. This issue can affect both the health of consumers as well as trust on Thailand’s agricultural products in the long run. Pesticide residue test is a key to safety assurance of Thailand’s agricultural products.

The conventional techniques used for pesticides analysis in today’s food labs still require expertise in performing a test as well as complex tools and equipment. That is why current rapid test is still not a perfect solution for a field test and a more convenient rapid test is needed in the market.
